Cashino is such an obvious name for a casino – it’s a miracle no one’s thought of it before. Actually they probably have, but it’s this Cashino which got there first and registered the .com domain. Given the outlay that must have been required to snap up the domain, assuming it was bought from a reseller, you’d think that Cashino must be a well-funded operation. Indeed, that may well be the case, although the site’s logo looks very cheap in particular; perhaps they spent all of budget on purchasing that sweet domain and then had to cut corners.
Dubious logo aside (it features a grinning sunshine and looks like it was drawn by a four-year-old), Cashino is a capable looking site. There’s a 100% first deposit bonus, a whole bunch of slots to play and some enticing branded games. All told, Cashino looks like a very comfy casino on first inspection, the sort of place where you just want to log in, lean back and shut out the world for a while as you immerse yourself in a fantasy realm of slots and table games. Casino play is about escapism among other things, and you can certainly do that here.
Cashino is owned by Merkur Interactive Malta, a company responsible for operating a number of online casinos. The firm are able to offer their services in the UK thanks to a gaming license issued by the UK Gambling Commission. Cashino comfortably earns pass marks when it comes to customer service; there’s a freephone UK number you can call as well as a Twitter handle, Facebook page, live chat and email support.
Interestingly, Cashino is more than just an online casino: its About page notes that you can also play its games on the high street. UK players may have spotted Cashino premises in their local town or city, characterised by a different but equally cheap looking logo and host of slots to play. Unless you’re craving the tactile sensation of pushing the buttons of a physical slot machine, you’re best off sticking to playing online. It’s less bleak than playing in the sort of high street premises you’re apt to find and way more convenient.
While Cashino comes across as a friendly and helpful site, one area where it appears to be lacking is when it comes to banking. There may be a banking page somewhere on the site, but it certainly doesn’t appear to be visible when you’re not logged in, put it that way. The site’s footer reveals that Visa, MasterCard, Maestro and Paysafecard are all deposit options.
It turns out, after further investigation, that there are in fact some additional options. You’ll find these under the FAQ, which reveals that Neteller, Ukash and Skrill are also available. The minimum deposit amount is £5 and the minimum withdrawal amount, amusingly, is 2p. That’s surely the lowest withdrawal amount offered by any casino. How desperate do you have to be for cash to withdraw 2p at a time? After submitting a withdrawal request, funds should show up in your account within 7 days.
Most of the games that can be played at Cashino are slots, but there is also a small selection of table games to help while away the time. Due to the sheer number and diversity of the slots, these have been divided into categories according to the number of paylines each game has. While there’s nothing wrong with segregating games in this manner, it seems arbitrary to select paylines and not, say, jackpot type, reels or theme as the determiner of what goes where.
All of the slots are listed in a standard grid layout, with each thumbnail image accorded the same blue background with the game’s logo overlaid. It’s not the most attractive look, but it works. Play games for free or log in to put some real money on the line. Titles that feature prominently include Baker Street, Action Bank, Gold of Persia and Grand Canyon. Thematically there’s all sorts here, from retro to Egypt and from pirates to ancient Greece.
Although not an absolute rule, the higher the number of paylines, the better the slots tend to be. Given that this is how Cashino have elected to categorise their games, it’s a simple rule of thumb that can be used to sniff out the more capable games. In the 25+ line section, for example, you’ll find Alice Adventure, Bruce Lee, Michael Jackson King of Pop and Titanic. There’s also Wizard of Oz Ruby Slippers and Rainbow Riches. There isn’t much else in terms of branded slots here, so if you’re looking for the likes of Motorhead, Ghostbusters or Guns N’ Roses, you’ll be out of luck.
The table games section is a little disappointing to be frank, but that’s often how it goes at sites that expend most of their efforts on slots. The thing is, the slots aren’t even that good at Cashino, despite their number. Blackjack and roulette are your only options in terms of table games here, with options including Blackjack, Lucky Pair, Lucky Seven, 2 Against 1 and Twins. There’s also an Other category which contains another roulette game randomly plus Las Vegas Poker and Classic Bingo.
Cashino is an okay site for slots. That sounds like faint praise and it is, because that’s about the extent of it. There’s nothing wrong with the number of games that are available here, but the quality is mediocre, save for a few notable exceptions. If Cashino are serious about attracting the video slots playing crowd, they’d do well to sign licensing agreements with some of the industry’s leading developers such as NetEnt. This would allow them to significantly bolster things in the quality stakes.
As it stands, Cashino is good for playing middle of the road slots, plus a handful of roulette and blackjack games, and that’s all. The welcome bonus is fine but there’s nothing to retain or indeed entertain players after that unless you include the site’s loyalty scheme. Cashino: cool name, average casino.
