Red And Gold, Fit For A King

The action in Grand Crown takes place on what looks like a red velvet cloth. Each reel on the 3x3 grid is bordered in nine-carat gold, with pay-line numbers etched along the left-hand side. You can choose to play on one, two, three, four or five paylines.

You can view each of the pay-lines via the table on the right-hand side. Matching combinations of three can be struck on both diagonal lines, and also on horizontal lines. You can’t find a matching combination on a vertical line.

In the table, each of the symbols’ worth is stated. Below that, there are gold boxes that reveal the amount of your total wins and total bets. It’s pretty easy to keep track of how much money you’re plunging into the game as a result. An autoplay option is accessible from the lower right corner of the screen.

Setting The Terms Of The Bet

In Grand Crown, players can stake between 0.10 and 10 per payline, and a maximum of one coin, which is the customary betting range for NeoGames slots like Atlantis. The return-to-player average is unknown.

Stars And Diamonds

The symbols that constitute winning icons in Grand Crown are more than a tad familiar. Not only are there cherries and BARs, but there are gold stars and glinting diamonds. And yes, there are triple 7 logos as well.

The golden crowns, as you might expect, are the best-paying in the game. Land three on any of the five pay-lines and you can win between x500 and x10,000, the latter of which is the game’s top prize. The best pay-line is the one that goes diagonally across the screen, starting in the bottom left-hand corner and arrowing towards the top right corner. The next best is horizontally across the top line, paying x800.

The gold crown is also wild, and can replace other symbols to help you form paying combinations. The presence of a crown in a successfully configured combination doubles your win. Forget one ring to rule them all – in this game it’s undoubtedly the crown which governs the gameplay.

Which is not to say the other icons pay trifling amounts. You can win x2 for a single cherry, x4 for two BARs and x10 for three BARs. Better still are the ‘777’ symbols, which engender a neat payout of x20 for three-in-a-line. Three stars pays x40 and a trio of diamonds pays a sparkling x100.

Where’s The Bonuses?

Sadly, there are none. As is the case with many three-reel video slots, Grand Crown sacrifices the presence of a bonus game, reasoning that there’s enough enjoyment to be derived from base play. Whether that’s true or not is up to the individual. Many video slots eschew a bonus game, but it’s disappointing when a lack of scatters means there are no free spins to aim for. There’s no random jackpot either.

Worthy Of Its Grand Name?

Grand Crown is a rather epic name to give to a slot. When we heard there was a game with this title, we figured the jackpot would be at least a million. Indeed, Grand Crown sounds like a 5-reel progressive rather than a 3-reel non-progressive. Even so, if you set your expectations a little lower, you can have fun with this game. The pay-outs are solid, the graphics are visually stimulating and the presence of a multiplying wild is a big bonus.
