Aztec Gold is a simple scratch card game with a simple goal: match three of the same symbol and you’ll win a prize. Each card is designed to look like a pyramid, with six sections to scratch off. The background looks like the inside of some hidden temple, and the game carries a musical score that is mysterious and hints at adventure – perhaps a bit much for such a simple game, but it definitely lends more of an atmosphere to the proceedings.
At the start of each round, players can set a bit for their next card. While this defaulted to $1 in the version of this title that we played, many different denominations were available, ranging from $0.50 to $20.
To get the action started, you’ll need to hit the play button. At this point, you’ll be able to “scratch” your ticket by clicking your mouse and dragging it across the squares to reveal what hides behind them. There is also a prize box that you may reveal at any time. There is no set order to how you have to unlock the card – you can do whatever feels the most exciting to you. You can also hit the play button again to simply uncover the entire play area at once.
Each panel will reveal an Aztec-themed symbol, such as pyramids, masks, and calendars. There are no set prizes associated with each of these icons, nor are there any wilds or special symbols. The only goal is to match thee of the same picture. If you do so, you will win the amount that is listed in the prize box. This can range from the amount the card cost in the first place all the way up to 1,000 times that amount.
There are a couple of other options available to players as well. A turbo button allows you to more quickly work your way through rounds by instantly revealing cards each time you purchase a new one. Even faster is the auto-play option, which quickly plays through as many as 100 tickets in succession.
We should also note that the return to player of this title is 94%. That’s a fairly good payout for a scratch card game – much better than you would get from a state-run lottery – making this a great option for players who enjoy this sort of gambling but want to receive fair odds, too.
Aztec Gold isn’t a game with a lot of tricks hidden up its sleeves. There are absolutely no special features or bonus rounds, nor any complications that can add multipliers or other extra wins for players. This is the most basic of games, one that sticks as closely as possible to the concept of “instant win.”
For many players, that means that this will be a game that’s just too simple to enjoy for very long. But if you prefer your betting to be done as rapidly as possible and without complication, then Aztec Gold might just give you some momentary satisfaction – especially if you walk away with one of the jackpot prizes.
