The hashtag #nachogate is trending on social media after a customer of the Fontainebleau resort in Las Vegas shared an image of his dissapointing meal.

Posting on X earlier this week, Mike Herman, the Director of Slot Operations at the Rio Las Vegas, said he waited an hour for food at the Fontainebleau Sportsbook. When the nachos did turn up, they didn’t look as appetizing as he might have hoped for the $24 price tag:

The original post has now received more than 1.3 million views and many X users have chimed in to give their take on the nachos. A user named Rob responded: “More condiments than chips. Wow.” While another called Jess Magdefrau labeled them:

Nachos for ants.”

The post has gained so much attention that Fontainebleau Las Vegas has now responded. The operator said it was “disappointed” to hear Herman had to wait so long and emphasized that its priority is “ensuring an elevated dining experience.” It urged Herman to get in touch to discuss further.

Not only that, the casino has supposedly already upgraded its nachos offering. Las Vegas reporter Jacob Orth posted a video of a portion of Fontainebleau nachos on Wednesday, which look a lot more appetizing than those Herman received:

While Fontainebleau might be scrambling to recover from the negative press, other properties have jumped on the opportunity to advertise their own nachos. Silverton Casino, Four Queens Hotel & Casino, and Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel are just three such venues to hijack the nachogate hashtag.
