A gambler in Ontario had quite the thrilling start to their weekend, winning the largest jackpot in the history of theScore Casino. According to a social media post by the Toronto-based online casino, the player won a whopping CAD$1,869,841 (USD$1,373,950) on a CAD$1.10 (USD$0.81) online slots spin Thursday night.

The casino said that the lucky person was playing Hollywood Casino Neon Vault, an exclusive game of theScore Casino. The fateful spin triggered the DropZone progressive jackpot, which is available to players in Ontario who opt-in to the DropZone promo.

All slots games at theScore Casino are eligible for DropZone. Players must opt-in because an extra $0.10 is taken from the player’s account for every wager to fund the jackpot.

theScore was originally a Canadian sports cable channel, created in 1997 by Score Media. It launched its mobile app in 2007, but in 2012, sold its television operations to Rogers Media, spinning off the website and mobile apps into theScore Inc.

Though it is a Canadian company, theScore holds a spot in US history, as it launched the first mobile sportsbook in the US, theScore Bet, in September 2019 in partnership with New Jersey’s Monmouth Park Racetrack.

The company was acquired by Penn Entertainment in 2021. The following year, theScore Bet Sportsbook and Casino expanded into Ontario. theScore Casino is only available in Ontario, but is launching in Alberta in July.
