Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott recently showed the media his mind is as fast as his gridiron moves after he endeared reporters by nimbly recovering from a gambling question fumble.

sports media recently grilled him over his Cowboys contract

According to The Mirror on Tuesday, the veteran QB’s impressive press conference performance came when the sports media recently grilled him over his Cowboys contract ending.

Prescott, who could be an unrestricted free agent for the upcoming NFL season, was responding to a question about whether the Cowboys would extend his contract. The all pro quarterback admitted contract pressure urgency was real even for seasoned athletes.

Prescott stated he didn’t mind the pressure because he’d been in a similar position before. To reinforce his belief in a positive outcome, the QB stepped into tricky territory by saying: “I’m a gambling man. I’ll gamble on myself and my guys.”

According to blacksportsonline.com, the press conference room “held its breath.”

Prescott quickly clarified what he meant, saying: “Not actually.”

“I understand there’s been a lot of sh*t with that,” he added, relieving the tension his early comment had set up and causing the reporters in the room to burst out laughing in appreciation of his neat sidestep.

Multiple NFL players have found themselves in hot water for gambling over recent years, resulting in lengthy suspensions. One such notable incident involved Calvin Ridley, who was suspended for betting while playing for the Atlanta Falcons. He has since been reinstated.
