Nottingham Forest Defender Harry Toffolo Charged by FA for Placing Nearly 400 Bets

  • Toffolo supposedly placed bets between the years 2014 and 2017
  • The 27-year-old defender has until July 19 to respond to the FA
  • Ivan Toney was recently suspended for eight months for 232 offenses

Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo was charged by the FA Wednesday with 375 violations of league gambling policy between the years 2014 and 2017.

Toffolo, 27, is said to have committed the violations from January 22, 2014 to March 18, 2017. He was employed by Norwich City at the time but played on loan at numerous clubs, including Swindon Town, Rotherham United, Peterborough United, and Scunthorpe United.

Toffolo appeared in 19 English Premier League matches during his first season in Nottingham Forest’s defense in 2022/23. He now has until July 19 to respond to the accusations.

Toffolo is the second Englishman to face FA charges for breaching the player gambling code in recent times. The first was Brentford striker Ivan Toney, who was suspended for eight months in May after admitting to committing 232 infractions From February 2017 to January 2021.

Toffolo was part of a record-setting summer 2022 transfer window that saw newly-promoted Forest spend close to $200m in net player transfers. He arrived for just $2.67m from Huddersfield and helped the club achieve a 16th-place finish, its highest in the Prem since the 1995/96 campaign.
