Le soccer fever

Hacksaw Gaming is tapping into the rising anticipation of the most-watched sporting event in the world by rolling out two contrasting soccer-themed slots from its acclaimed “Le” series ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Malta-based iGaming studio is leading with Le Football Fan, which the firm stated in a Tuesday news release is rolling out with multiple localized versions to appeal to soccer-loving fans worldwide.

Backing this up, Hacksaw took to X with multiples of Le series star Smokey in national team colors of the USA, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, and England:

Hacksaw stated that the localized versions of Le Football Fan include “market-specific campaigns built around national pride, rivalry and matchday excitement,” and include tournament-themed activations.

Coming in under the radar, ostensibly for its non-PC theme, but also launching ahead of tournament kickoff on June 11 at Mexico City Stadium, is Le Hooligan.

While the hyped slot resonates with the happy, family friendly side of soccer, Le Hooligan leans, albeit gently, into the darker side of the sport.

Slots in contrast

As Hacksaw CEO Marcus Cordes stated in Tuesday’s news release, soccer fans are “driven by emotion, identity and huge shared moments” and that’s what his company was tapping into with Le Football Fan.

Cordes added that launching localized versions of the slot gave operators the platform to “create campaigns that feel relevant, energetic and tailored to local audiences” at a time when soccer will dominate sporting conversations in most countries worldwide. Even a firm like Hacksaw that is known for edgy slots knows when not to push a slot like Le Hooligan into any World Cup conversation.

Especially given the sport’s historic troubles with hooligan-instigated violence at World Cups, including mass brawls between English and German fans in Marseille, France in 1998, fans from the same two countries clashing in Germany in 2006, and street battles in Brazil in 2014 between rival South American fans.

Le Hooligan offers a 10,000x maximum win

High rollers and high volatility fans, however, are sure to favor Le Hooligan out of the two Le titles, as it’s aimed at players after maximum aggression and the chance of big, life-changing wins. Le Hooligan offers a 10,000x maximum win compared to Le Football Fan’s comparatively modest 2,500x.

RTP is almost at parity, with Le Hooligan’s a whisker higher at 96.27% against 96.20%, while its volatility is very high against its kin’s high rating.

Le Football Fan is more approachable for casual players and suited to extended, more relaxed gameplay sessions.

Keeping it in Le family

Despite the difference in mathematics for both slots, they are both essentially re-skins of the Le series. Both games use the same core Super Cascade engine as Le Bandit, where Wins remove symbols and new ones cascade in, and the Win to Win system marks positions that can later transform into special symbols, multipliers, or cash prizes.

smartly used its tried and tested Le mechanical foundation on both

Ultimately, Hacksaw has smartly used its tried and tested Le mechanical foundation on both pre-World Cup releases, but wrapped the system in two polarizing soccer themes while tweaking the mathematics buttons.
