3,000-room hotel-casino with two towers.”
Bally’s CEO Soo Kim has revealed plans for a giant 500,000-square-foot entertainment district encircling the A’s ballpark, including a 3,000-room hotel-casino with two towers.
Kim stated that while development of the 11.5-acre entertainment district on the corner of the Strip and East Tropicana Avenue will start in 2026, some parts of the complex will open to the public before the new $2bn stadium hosts its first game in 2028.
The Bally’s chief expects the hotel casino wing on the Strip property to potentially open by 2028.
Entertainment galore
According to the Nevada Independent, along with the casino component, Bally’s retail, dining, and entertainment plans include a 2,500-seat theater for live performances, and outdoor plazas encircling the MLB stadium with aims of “fostering a lively atmosphere for game days and beyond.”
75 percent of Vegas revenues are non-gaming”
The non-gaming side of the project reflects Bally’s belief in the revenue-spinning potential of retail set beside a major league stadium. Kim stated it wasn’t “lost upon me that 75 percent of Vegas revenues are non-gaming.”
While Bally’s invests heavily in digital and is one of America’s leading online slot brands, Kim said Bally’s intends to boost its non-gaming portfolio, with the ballpark site to feature “a mix of dining concepts, flagship retail and immersive experiences.”
Kim added that Bally’s was “absolutely able to deliver” on opening some retail venues before the A’s first pitch, stating it was already in discussions with an entertainment venue firm to potentially operate the theatre.
Rosy future foreseen
While Vegas is waging a public battle to change both the perception and reality that prices in Sin City are grossly high amid a significant slump in tourism, Kim sees another, brighter future for Vegas.
“We absolutely believe there is enough demand for retail,” Kim said, citing BLVD Las Vegas as an example and “an inspiration” for the plans.
The Bally’s exec also added that the hotel-casino “would have direct access to the ballpark.”
