Flutter International has launched a new poker platform in India under the brand name Junglee Poker. The new poker platform is in direct competition with PokerStars India, another Flutter subsidiary.

This venture is an extension of Flutter’s skill-based gaming company Junglee Games which also offers betting on fantasy cricket, carrom, and rummy.  Junglee Poker will add Texas Hold‘Em and Pot-Limit Omaha to that list.

India boasts a huge market with the potential to grow substantially

India’s legislative framework for online poker is in constant flux with campaigners on both sides winning ground and then giving it back up. However, even with just a few states currently offering a legal and regulated market, India boasts a huge market with the potential to grow substantially.

PokerStars India has never really been a serious player in that market despite being, along with GGPoker, one of the biggest players in the online poker world. In India, home-grown brands like PokerBaazi and Adda52 dominate instead.

Where PokerStars India had to approach the market from scratch, Junglee Poker piggybacks on a pair of established brands. As well as building out from Junglee Games, which already has 100 million users in India, the new venture is a rebrand of the PokerIndia app. This is a popular app for iPhone and Android with an established user base.
