Scientific Games Awarded Ten-Year Vermont Lottery Systems Contract

Winning the bidding process

Scientific Games Corporation has won the competitive bidding process for the Vermont Lottery’s gaming systems technology contract. In the announcement on Thursday, Scientific Games revealed that it won this contract from a “global competitor.”

This ten-year contract will see Scientific Games deploy its advanced platforms, game services, and retail solutions products in order to maximize revenue for the state’s Education Fund. There is also the option to renew the contract for up to another ten years.

US-based Scientific Games had the best overall score when it came to the Vermont Lottery’s grading of each of the candidates. Its track record of maximizing profits for lottery beneficiary programs was also a big plus.

Providing a wide range of products

Specifically, Scientific Games will provide a central communications network and its AEGIS open architecture enterprise gaming system to the Vermont Lottery. It will supply its WAVE retailer terminals, as well as its PlayCentral self-service machines, to the state’s lottery retailers. Finally, Scientific Games will provide its turnkey game services and system operations.

Scientific Games provides digital and retail games, services, and technology to 135 lotteries across the world, including almost all of the lotteries in North America.

Other benefits that the Vermont Lottery will receive include getting help through the retailer services of Scientific Games to create new sales channels and develop existing ones. This will encompass the likes of revenue optimization, operational services, and marketing.

Beginning in fall 2022

The official start of Scientific Games’ reign in Vermont will be in the fall of 2022. The Vermont Lottery has business growth objectives that aim to create millions of dollars in extra funding for the state’s Education Fund.

Speaking about the awarding of this contract to Scientific Games was the Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery deputy commissioner Sabina Haskell. She said: “After an extremely thorough evaluation of proposals to the Vermont Lottery, Scientific Games stood out as the clear choice to modernize the Vermont Lottery and to deliver outstanding player experiences.”

Haskell also noted that the lottery’s retailers were happy with the selection.

Scientific Games lottery group CEO Pat McHugh also commented on the contract, saying that it is an honor to work with the Vermont Lottery in trying to create additional funding for important programs in the state. He said: “Our relentless commitment to innovation and alignment with our lottery customers’ business plans has positioned Scientific Games as the industry’s fastest-growing lottery systems provider.”
