Law enforcement in Las Vegas arrested the author of one of poker’s most influential books, The Theory of Poker. As first reported by PokerNews, they apprehended David Sklansky on January 29 due to domestic battery allegations. He was let out of custody the next day without any formal charges.

The 78-year-old was an exciting player in the 1970s, when he captured three World Series of Poker bracelets in a two-year stretch. While he would never actually add to this haul, he has more than $1.4m in live tournament earnings. The New Jersey native has also authored 14 books in total. The Theory of Poker is widely considered one of the foremost books in the field and is based on Sklansky’s mathematical approach.
Sklansky has delivered poker seminars over the years, including during the annual WSOP in Las Vegas. He has also completed consulting work for online gambling sites, casinos, and gambling device developers.
