Planet Hollywood Las Vegas is closing its poker room in a few days, less than nine months after it reopened. Though the casino has yet to make a formal announcement, a Planet Hollywood dealer said this past weekend that January 31 will be the poker room’s final day.

That dealer was YouTuber “Vegas Poker Nomad,” or “El Diablo,” as he is called in poker circles. In a video posted January 24 and recorded a few days earlier, El Diablo broke the news to his viewership. It seems that he and his colleagues had a feeling it would happen, but he said that they also thought that if it did, it wouldn’t be until after the 2026 World Series of Poker, slated for May 26 to July 15.

El Diablo’s reasoning: March brings spring break, March Madness, and a local WSOP Circuit stop, which should generate crowds. Not long after that is the WSOP, which, of course, always brings lots of poker traffic to casinos other than the host venues of Harrah’s Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas.

The dealer said that while he has enjoyed working at other casinos, Planet Hollywood has been by far his favorite, a place where he looks forward to going every day.

This short stint was the second for Planet Hollywood’s poker room. The casino’s previous poker room was a casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic, in July 2021. It was a small room, though “room” might have been a stretch. It was located right next to the Pleasure Pit, with its scantily-clad dealers and go-go dancers, and the lack of physical separation wasn’t necessarily fun for serious players (though likely attractive to many, all the same).

moved to a quieter location upstairs

Planet Hollywood reintroduced its poker room in May 2025, just a couple weeks before the start of the 2025 WSOP. The number of tables more than doubled from ten to 23 and the room was moved to a quieter location upstairs. Though players liked the room a lot, it is thought that its out-of-the-way spot made it harder for players to find it and it thus lost walk-in traffic.

Reports are that Planet Hollywood’s poker room staff will be reassigned to other Caesars casinos in Las Vegas.
