Just days after announcing deals with the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones, Polymarket has been unveiled as the exclusive prediction market partner of the New York Rangers.
LED signs, concourse activations, on-ice contests, and dashboard signage
The NHL team’s owner, Madison Square Garden Sports Corporation, outlined the various activations that will be part of this agreement. Polymarket will feature on game days through LED signs, concourse activations, on-ice contests, and dashboard signage during televized games. Polymarket will also be the presenting partner on one of this season’s Rangers Centennial Theme Nights.
Talking about the new agreement, MSG Sports Chief Operating Officer Jamaal Lesane said that it’s a “landmark” deal in what’s a “new and exciting category.” Polymarket co-founder Shayne Coplan echoed these sentiments, speaking about how Rangers fans are some of the most dedicated in all of sports. He believes the partnership will generate a “new, dynamic layer of engagement.”
This is the first time Polymarket has partnered with a major sports team. Rival Kalshi entered a similar arrangement in December with the Chicago Blackhawks. Both prediction market platforms are also official partners of the NHL.
Other major leagues like the NFL, NBA, and MLB have thus far stayed away from embracing this rapidly growing online gambling segment. This news of the Rangers’ agreement also comes just one day after a New York lawmaker introduced the ORACLE Act, which aims to stop prediction sites from taking bets on specific games.
