Twitch is making an exception to its ban on streaming content involving unregulated crypto gambling sites.
The streaming site hasn’t allowed creators to stream content from unregulated crypto casinos or to share links to affiliate codes for sites that offer roulette, dice games, or slots since 2022. But Twitch is now easing that rule for Rollbit.
Rollbit is the official betting sponsor of the Counter-Strike StarLadder Budapest Major tournament that begins on Monday, with teams battling for the $1.25m top prize.
agreed to limit the on-stream exposure of the sponsorship to only physical branding
Twitch is happy to proceed in this specific instance as both the event and the crypto casino have agreed to limit the on-stream exposure of the sponsorship to only physical branding. This means that there will be no verbal mentions of the brand, commercials, or demonstrations showing gambling gameplay on the Amazon-owned platform during the tournament.
Some people on social media believe this could open the door for streamers to display physical crypto gambling logos in the background of their streaming sessions, provided they don’t verbally mention the brand, stream content from the site, or share any affiliate links.
