Brazen Tactical Robbery Targets Summerlin Casino’s Main Cashier Cage

Crime shatters peace

A daring, tactically executed robbery on Rampart Casino has rocked the suburban quiet of Summerlin, an area northwest of the Las Vegas Strip.

According to a Saturday press release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), a man done-up as a security officer brandishing an AR-style rifle successfully held up Rampart casino’s main cashier’s cage just before 10:30pm on Thursday.

Las Vegas Locally took to X with an image of the suspect. He was able to enter and escape the Hotspur Resorts Nevada, Inc-owned casino located in the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa via the parking garage:

According to the LVMPD, the ballistic helmet-wearing suspect managed to make his getaway with an undisclosed amount of cash. 

Various news outlets have reported the brazen attack on the casino has unsettled the community, which consists mainly of “locals and retirees.”

Walk in, walk out

According to reports, the suspect’s meticulous strategy saw the gunman enter casino premises via the Marriott parking garage, which serves the entire Resort at Summerlin complex.

This “low-security point of ingress for patrons and staff alike” allowed the suspect to bypass the central security hub and make his way to the Rampart’s main cashier’s cage. Displaying his deadly rifle, the suspect threatened a cashier, who eventually handed him the cash he was demanding.

The LVMPD’s Facebook post on the incident has attracted over 350 comments, with most joking the suspect was out to avenge his casino losses, with one user stating: “He’s already lost the money and the shirt off his back.” Another user asked how anyone can walk into a casino “looking like a member of the Blue Man Group wearing swimming goggles…”

Blue goggles and oversized jacket aside, the LVMPD noted that the suspect’s security get-up was nevertheless both intimidating and aided his escape.

Still at large

Unfortunatel,y for the shaken residents of Summerlin and patrons of the casino, the LVMPD stated the suspect was still at large. 

Detectives from the LVMPD Robbery Investigation Section are, however, investigating the possibility that the suspect was familiar with both the casino’s security and its layout “given his methodical entry and escape.”

Evidenced by the image shared on X by Locally, the LVMPD has also released surveillance images to the public in a search for leads.
