Against a double-digit decline in foot traffic at Las Vegas establishments comes news that ID fraud cases in the city have soared by over 50% year-on-year.
According to a study by New Orleans-based tech firm IDScan.net, Vegas casinos unsurprisingly experienced the most significant rise from 1.22% last year to 2.33% in 2025.
majority of the fraud cases were essentially old school
An iGaming publication shared an interview with CEO of IDScan Jimmy Roussel, who stated that the majority of the fraud cases were essentially old school, with people using fake, borrowed, or deepfaked IDs to skate age verification systems.
The exec said that while the methods might be traditional, the “scale and sophistication” is not.
“Fraudsters are getting more strategic in taking advantage of leaner teams and slower nights to bypass security processes,” Roussel explained.
