Ever fancied yourself a member of the Ghostbusters team? Well, your chance has come to prove you have what it takes to hunt down spooky inhabitants of the spectral realm… in a Las Vegas casino no less.

The El Cortex Hotel & Casino is the oldest casino in Las Vegas, having opened in 1941, and it is now offering the chance for people to spend a weekend of ghost hunting inside its walls. It is running a competition in which the winner will receive $5,000 and spend a weekend hunting ghosts in the casino.

the hunter must take photos and videos as evidence

The winner will use specialized equipment to hunt the spooky beings, including EMF meters, EVP recorders, and thermal sensors. If they catch anything, the hunter must take photos and videos as evidence, plus put together a report on the scariest, funniest, or most mysterious findings.

As reported by Casino.org, the casino listing said that the competition aims to see “if the stories are true.” So what are these stories? Well, there have been many reports of spooky shadows, phantom footsteps, and sudden chilly spots within the hotel-casino. The gambling venue has ties to old-time Vegas mobsters, and plenty of murders have supposedly taken place within its walls.

The contest will run from October 6 through to October 31, aka Halloween, and the ghost-hunting trip is expected to take place in December this year.

The off-Strip casino has an expansive gaming floor that offers a range of table games.
