Police have arrested a man suspected of fatally shooting two people and injuring another six individuals at a tribal casino in Texas.
The incident took place late on Saturday night at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino in Eagle Pass, with the victims named as retired border patrol agent Marcus “Mark” Antley and Alicia Sanchez. Some of the injured people were airlifted to hospital in San Antonio. Their current condition is unknown.
Law enforcement hasn’t provided any explanation as to what led to the shooting. A car raffle competition was set to take place that night shortly after the incident kicked off. Images on social media show bullet holes in slot machines and windows:
In a statement on Facebook on Sunday, the Kickapoo Tribe extended its sympathy to the impacted families after the “senseless act of violence.” Talking to local media, one witness to the incident was concerned about the response to the shooting, saying that there was “no emergency protocol.”

After a pursuit, troopers fired at the vehicle and captured the suspect along with a firearm. Police charged the 34-year-old with two counts of capital murder and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
The casino, which is the largest in Texas and lies close to the Mexico border, will not reopen until further notice.
