Publishers Clearing House has been around since the 1950s, with one of the direct marketing company’s biggest attractions being the big cash sweepstakes competition it regularly offered. Some winners were promised six-figure annual payments for life after getting lucky.

These individuals are now concerned after Publishers Clearing House went into bankruptcy and its remaining assets were purchased by mobile gaming firm ARB Interactive, which said that it doesn’t have to honor any lifetime prize payouts that occurred before July 15, 2025 as it wasn’t part of the purchase agreement.

In a statement, the new owner said it understands “the concerns surrounding unpaid prizes owed to past winners” and that future winners won’t have any concerns about payouts. Going forward, they will receive their winnings no matter what ARB Interactive’s financial situation might be due to the creation of a separate payment mechanism.

Talking to KGW, one person who was supposed to get $5,000 every week for the rest of their life said they’re now going to have to look for a job after not working for more than a decade and they think they might lose their home.
