While retail sportsbooks have been found across the UK for years on the high street, they were never allowed to open in land-based casinos. This is all changing as lawmakers passed a measure into law last month.

antiquated rules made little sense as people could easily use their phones to place bets

They pointed out that the antiquated rules made little sense as people could easily use their phones to place bets from within these facilities, making the prohibition effectively redundant.

Grosvenor Casinos, which has more than 50 locations across the UK, is planning to roll out sports betting terminals in September once it gets the green light from regulators. Talking to iGB, Grosvenor Casinos Managing Director Mark Harper believes this move will help its locations acquire more customers and also compete against Adult Gaming Centres.

Another change from lawmakers is that casinos can have more gaming machines on their property.
