largest injury-related refund Fanatics have ever paid out
According to reports, the Michigander was the recipient of the largest injury-related refund Fanatics has ever paid out.
Curry departed Wednesday night’s Western Conference semifinals against the Timberwolves with a hamstring injury. Fanatics took to X later to reference Curry’s exit and promote its injury policy, while advising bettors with other sportsbooks: “It’s “time to shift.”
Under Fanatics’ policy, players who retire injured in the first half give bettors a cash refund, while parlay legs involving the hurt player are voided.
The subsidiary of the Michael Rubin-owned US sportswear giant also issued a press release stating “Fair Play is our way of ensuring fairness when the unpredictable happens.” According to Fanatics, its policy has seen it pony up more than $2m in payouts for the NBA playoffs, with refunds for injuries to players including Ja Morant, Damian Lillard, and Jimmy Butler.
The sportsbook, which is enjoying a huge surge in popularity, has reportedly refunded or paid out over $8m to customers since it entered the market in late 2023.
