Iowa Man Shot Dead Outside Casino After Ramming Two Police Cars, Swinging Metal Object

Police have shot a man dead outside an Iowa casino after he rammed two police cars with his truck and swang a metal object at them.

The 55-year-old man from Iowa, known as Salvador Perez-Garcia, drove his white truck head-on into a parked police car inside the Hard Rock Casino car park. Inside the police vehicle was a Sioux City officer.

When the truck exited the parking garage it rammed into a second police vehicle belonging to responding officers. According to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, when Perez-Garcia stepped out of his vehicle, he emerged “swinging a length of chain with an affixed metal object in an aggressive, threatening manner.”

Officers at the scene attempted to retrieve the weapon from the suspect and to de-escalate the situation; however, Perez-Garcia continued to advance on the officers. As a result, officers shot him and he died at the scene. Police have not released any more information at this time.
