Poker Player in Custody After Shooting 70+ Times Into the Air From Las Vegas Hotel

A poker player is in hot water after he allegedly shot a gun into the air more than 70 times from a hotel balcony in Las Vegas. Jon Letzkus is in custody and will appear in court on Wednesday afternoon regarding the incident.

The 45-year-old was on a balcony in a room of the MGM Grand casino resort’s Signature Towers when he supposedly shot into the air at about 6am on Sunday morning.

Nobody suffered injuries as a result of the incident but Letzkus is facing 73 felony charges. This includes 71 counts of firing a weapon inside of a building, a single count of being a prohibited person with a firearm, and one count of intentionally destroying property.

The authorities are still working to figure out the motive behind the incident. A nearby street was closed for a number of hours to keep the public safe until police arrested the suspect at about 10:45am.

Letzkus is a small-stakes player who has some World Series of Poker cashes. His lifetime earnings in live poker events as per The Hendon Mob database is $14,807.
