Continued growth for sports betting companies

Two notable sports betting brands announced new partnership deals this week, one in the United States and Canada. BetMGM and MGM Resorts reported an extension of their branding and sponsorship partnership with the National Hockey League (NHL), signing a multi-year deal after teaming up with the league back in 2018.

PointsBet Canada has decided to work with Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA), with the sports betting brand becoming the ACA official sportsbook. The multi-year deal begins with the 2021-22 season.

BetMGM and MGM Resorts continue NHL relationship

With the NHL agreement, BetMGM and MGM Resorts can continue to use the league’s branding via social media and digital platforms. The NHL will feature the betting companies’ logos on signage during events. There will also be options for creating marketing campaigns to cater to hockey fans.

MGM Resorts sponsors the NHL All-Star First-Timers broadcast on social platforms as well as the NHL Showcase Odds segment. BetMGM provides sports betting odds for the Showcase program.

MGM Resorts Senior Vice President, Sports & Sponsorships, Lance Evans, commented on the extension, stating that the NHL partnership has been a success, allowing the brands to offer quality access to fans and guests’ favorite teams.

“Alongside BetMGM,” Evans said, “we remain committed to helping the league grow its audience while offering fans new and entertaining experiences.”

It has been a busy 2022 for BetMGM, as the brand continues signing new sports partnership deals and launching services. The brand recently opened a retail sportsbook at the Washington Nationals’ stadium, a first for a Major League Baseball venue.

Details of PointsBet Canada deal

The other big announcement this week comes from PointsBet Canada. The brand signed a partnership agreement with Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA), becoming the official sportsbook of the national alpine, para-alpine, and ski cross teams.

Enjoying its 100th anniversary, Alpine Canada has long been the home base for Canadian elite ski racing. The ACA is home to the reigning Olympic gold medalists in women’s and men’s ski cross. The group supports winners from the Olympics, World Cup, Paralympics, X Games, and World Championships.

Chief Executive Officer of PointsBet Canada commented that the brand is committed to providing fans with gold medal experiences, saying: “We are excited to be partnering with our world-class Canadian skiers as they follow their dreams and represent our great country on the world stage.”

Founded in Australia, PointsBet is a growing sports betting company in the United States. The brand recently launched in New York State as the 6th operator to join the mobile betting market. The company has big goals of moving toward launching in Canada with its PointsBet Canada brand.
