The Eastside Cannery Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is no more. Onlookers took in the spectacle of the demolition nearby or on live feeds at 2am on Thursday:

It only took a matter of seconds for the structure to collapse following the dynamite-powered implosion. The casino’s owner decided not to offer a public viewing area for the event, as is often the case with other demolitions in Nevada. The Eastside Cannery was also the first Las Vegas casino demolition since the Tropicana’s demolition in October 2024.

announced in October 2025 that it would demolish the casino

The property opened in 2008 and was a popular haunt for locals. The owner, Boyd Gaming, decided not to reopen the property after its forced closure in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It gave lack of customer demand as the reason, and announced in October 2025 that it would demolish the casino. Many of the regulars took their patronage to the nearby Sam’s Town.

Boyd Gaming confirmed in October that it was in negotiations to sell the 29.5-acre site for possible industrial usage. The location is adjacent to the Boulder Highway, an area where Clark County is investing millions to try to improve roads and pedestrian safety to entice developers to invest in projects.
