Bally’s Purchases Sam’s Town Shreveport From Boyd Gaming

  • Deal is expected to close in the third quarter, but terms are not public yet
  • Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel is adjacent to Sam’s Town
  • Bally’s will announce its plans for Sam’s Town “in the near future”

Bally’s Corporation has agreed to acquire Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino in Shreveport, Louisiana from Boyd Gaming Corporation. The deal, announced Thursday, is expected to close in the third quarter of this year. Dollar figures have not been made public.

“The sale of our Sam’s Town Shreveport property is consistent with our continued focus on refining our operating model and our nationwide property portfolio,” said Boyd Gaming President and CEO Keith Smith. “Sam’s Town Shreveport has been a part of our Company since 2004, and we appreciate all of the contributions of its team members, past and present, in providing great service to our guests throughout the last two decades.”

Bally’s has a gaming property, Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel, directly next to Sam’s Town on the west side of the Red River. Should it keep Sam’s Town as-is, it would add 750 slot machines, 14 table games, and a 514-room hotel, among other assets.

But the company might do something else with it. In Thursday’s announcement, Bally’s Executive Chairman Soo Kim said: “We look forward to sharing more about our broader vision and plans for the property and the market in the near future.”

“The acquisition of Sam’s Town Shreveport reflects our confidence in the community and our long-term commitment to growing our presence here,” he added. “We see meaningful opportunities to reinvest in the market and further strengthen Shreveport’s position as a premier destination for gaming and entertainment.”

Bally’s has two other properties in Louisiana, Bally’s Baton Rouge and The Queen Baton Rouge, as well as two more in neighboring Mississippi: Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi and Bally’s Vicksburg.
