Big bold bid

Veteran local beat reporter Richard N. Velotta has called Las Vegas’ bid to attract visitors to the US gambling capital for Super Bowl LX weekend: “unlike any in recent memory.”

even high-roller outlets cutting room rates for this weekend

The claim comes as news emerged of rooms on the Strip going for less than $100 a night and even high-roller outlets cutting room rates for this weekend.

According to reports, industry analysts suspect the price cuts are a response by operators to the perception that Vegas is overpriced.

Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday is expected to draw large crowds to Las Vegas, where resorts and casinos put on viewing parties and sportsbooks expand their betting offerings.

Advantage resorts

According to Velotta’s column, the Super Bowl’s expected conclusion at around 7:00pm PT will benefit the resorts as many visitors will choose to stay overnight and leave Monday.

As such, Vegas operators are going all out to maximize the expected spike in visitation.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal cited a Wednesday survey it conducted that found the average cost of a hotel room for Saturday and Sunday night was $138.88.

That total is reportedly 25.4% less than the average daily room rate for February 2025, as per figures from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

Reports are of rooms at Strip and luxury resorts going for under $100 and under $500 a night, respectively. Latter tier rooms at Palazzo and The Venetian are going for $206 a night, with Caesars Palace offering $359 a night.

Further down the scale, Vegas Strip rooms are available for $21, $31, $40, and $19 per night at the Sahara, Luxor or The Strat, Harrah’s Las Vegas, and Circus Circus, respectively.

The average prices are reportedly much less than the average February 2025 rate of $186.16 across the valley and $198.16 on the Strip.

UNLV’s William F. Harrah College of Hospitality Assistant Professor Amanda Belarmino believes revenue managers appear to be responding to criticism that Vegas is overpriced.

“The pricing of Super Bowl rooms is following a current trend we are seeing in many different areas of trying to be more responsive to consumers.”

Meanwhile, downtown

Downtown Las Vegas hotels, however, have gone the other way.  The Review-Journal survey found 18 downtown hotels averaged room rates of $119.33 for the Super Bowl weekend.

The LCVA said that February 2025’s average room rate was $96.32 a night.

Circa ($204) and the English Hotel ($224) had the highest per night rates downtown for this weekend. Locals’ resorts Durango and Red Rock, meanwhile, offered some of the Valley’s most costly Super Bowl stays at $367 and $324 a night, respectively.
