The venue will have 6,000 seats and feature an external display similar to the one in Nevada, although the overall structure will be scaled down. The press release highlighted that it will be the “world’s highest-resolution LED screen.”

It went on to say that the goal is to “create a new Maryland landmark” to boost the local economy and to bring benefits to the local communities:

The project, a collaboration among Sphere Entertainment, the State of Maryland, Prince George’s County, and Peterson Companies, still requires various approvals before it can proceed. The press release did not provide a concrete timeline for when the work might begin or finish.

The project is seeking about $200m in state, local, and private incentives. It estimates that the economic impact would be more than $1bn annually and that it would create 4,750 jobs when fully operational.
