Law enforcement has arrested a man on suspicion of murdering a woman at the Sky Dancer Casino and Resort in Belcourt, North Dakota. Rigoberto Mendez-Morales allegedly fatally stabbed the victim in the early hours of Saturday morning on the Turtle Mountain Reservation.
Authorities have not released the identity of the victim.
The 58-year-old remains in custody at the Rolette County Law Enforcement Center after his bond hearing on Monday morning. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim.
The FBI is leading the investigation in collaboration with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Justice Services.
Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Tribe leadership said that the incident was “a senseless act of domestic violence.”
