The family of a man who fell to his death at the Emerald Queen Casino in Washington on December 20 are searching for answers about the circumstances that led up to the incident.

The Tacoma Fire Department responded to a call at the property at 9:20pm after hearing that an individual had fallen through glass near the escalators. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as 37-year-old Evan Potifar. His friends, who were with him at the casino at the time, immediately called his sister to tell her what had happened. She explained in an interview with local media how she initially thought the call was a joke:

The family is trying to piece together the events and is meeting with any witnesses to gather their accounts of what happened. His other sister said that the casino needs to repair the dangerous structure and take care of the family.

Another person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries that they sustained while trying to help Potifar.
