The Sphere Las Vegas is seeing great success with its reimagined showings of the Wizard of Oz, with the $200-per-ticket show attracting fans in their droves. According to Wolf Research Analyst Peter Supino, the facility could become the most profitable venue in the world.

The operator has sold hundreds of thousands of tickets since the movie started showing on August 28. Supino believes the Sphere’s gross profit could top $500m next year, largely off the back of the Wizard of Oz success. Other similar movies could be in the pipeline for screening and at a lower price than the $100m it cost to rollout the Wizard of Oz.

discussions about the likes of Star Wars and Harry Potter as potential franchises

Bloomberg has reported rumors of discussions about the likes of Star Wars and Harry Potter as potential franchises that could hit the 16,000-square-foot screen in the future.

Sphere Entertainment Chairman and CEO James Dolan is attributed with bringing old-school movies to the facility, with the 70-year-old even appearing momentarily in the Wizard of Oz screening through digital insertion.
