Legal Sports Betting Once Again Fails to Get Over the Line in Minnesota

Despite most of its neighbors having licensed sportsbooks, Minnesota lawmakers once again failed to pass legislation that would legalize the activity. The 2025 legislative session came to an end on Monday, with no relevant bills getting much attention this year despite promises in the previous sitting.

Senator Matt Klein’s bill failed to make it through the committee stage due to stiff opposition. The Senate Tax Committee also decided against greenlighting an evaluation on the potential benefits of legal sports betting in the state.
