Formula One owner Liberty Media is suing a Las Vegas souvenir store over claims it sold “516 knockoff items” during the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Liberty is suing Ellis Island Hotel & Casino, alleging it produced and sold the unlicensed items for the inaugural Vegas GP. It claims that E & B Wholesalers produced copies of items under its trademark in the five months prior to the 2023 showpiece.

sold F1-branded t-shirts and hoodies to four businesses in the Valley

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal the shop sold F1-branded t-shirts and hoodies to four businesses in the Valley.

The four shops allegedly bought a total of $2,660 worth of unlicensed F1-branded gear. The suit argues that selling fake merchandise reflects badly on the F1 brand and “undermines the investment they put into hosting the Las Vegas Grand Prix.”

F1 wants courts to block E & B from making any more unlicensed items. It also wants damages to the tune of three times the amount of profits the Vegas shop made from selling the F1-branded goods.
