Legal sports betting is finally nearly ready to launch in Nebraska. The WarHorse Casino in Lincoln revealed on Monday that it will officially open its retail sportsbook on Thursday. People will be able to place bets at the teller window or through any of the ten self-service kiosks dotted around the casino. Kambi Group is on board to provide the sportsbook technology.

Talking about the excitement surrounding Thursday’s launch, WarHorse Gaming’s parent company’s CEO Lance Morgan said: “Nebraskans have been asking for the opportunity to wager on sports since the ballot initiatives were passed in 2020.”

It has taken some time for sportsbooks to launch in the state, with then-governor Pete Ricketts signing legislation into law in May 2021.

While only retail sports betting is legal in Nebraska, people can build their bets at home through the WarHorse app so they can be ready to go when they visit the property. No wagering is permitted on the home games of in-state college teams. The Grand Island Casino Resort and Harrah’s Casino both plan to launch their own sportsbooks in the future.
