Paul fights Tommy August 6

Social media influencer turned cruiserweight boxer Jake Paul has managed to up the stakes in regards to his upcoming fight on August 6. After some very public jibes from Paul, Tyson Fury has agreed to stake $1m on his brother Tommy Fury to beat the YouTuber.

Tyson recently claimed that he would place a £100,000 ($123,127) wager on his brother to win the bout, an amount Paul ridiculed him for this weekend. In a social media post on Saturday, Paul declared Tyson a “p***y” and urged him to place “a better bet.” In a video response the following day, the WBC heavyweight champion confirmed that he would up the wager to $1m:

The August 9 fight represents the first time 25-year-old Paul, whose boxing career stands at five wins and no defeats, will go up against a professional boxer. While Tommy is 8-0, as the Bleacher Report states Tyson’s sibling “isn’t seen as the next superstar boxer in the family.”

Paul mulls new supercar

The focus of Paul’s scorn was an interview Tyson gave on iFL TV where he said he’d lay down £100,000 ($123,127) on his brother to win. Via a Tweet on Saturday partly captioned “Tyson, grow a pair” Paul noted that the Gypsy King made “$40m last year.”

Tyson collected £20m ($24.6m) after beating Deontay Wilder on October 9, 2021. It was the third time Fury faced Wilder, after earning a split decision draw in 2018 and beating Wilder in the BetFred sponsored rematch in February 2020. Fury also landed £26.2m ($33.6m) in April 2021 for beating Dillian Whyte. According to Talksport, Fury’s current net worth is around the £120m ($147.2m) mark.

Later on Saturday, Paul returned to Twitter, confirming that Tyson had responded to him and that the $1m bet was on. He also mulled over what he could spend his Fury wager winnings on, mentioning a Ferrari SF 90, a Ferarri 296 GTB, and a McLaren Richard Mille.

Tyson recommends dentist

Tyson responded by posting a live video taken from a rooftop restaurant via Twitter on Sunday. He suggested a few other things that the Youtuber could spend the cash on, including a good dentist:

Jake Paul has a reported net worth of around $60m. However, recent media reports have suggested that the social media star lost a large portion of his fortune in the recent cryptocurrency crash
