A mailman in the UK was playing slot games online and won over £330,000 ($435,250) before the gambling site operator told him it was due to a glitch and that he wouldn’t receive his winnings.

Stephen Harvey won the sum on the Jackpot Drop game on William Hill on March 16. He won £330,906 ($436,444), describing how he saw three different jackpot bonuses on the screen during his session. He’s a regular player of the game and told BBC Three Counties Radio’s “The JVS Show” that the money would have been “very life changing.”

Harvey is currently staying in a rental property and thought that with the winnings, he’d be able to finance a house purchase. The 53-year-old initiated a withdrawal of the funds and when he checked back later that afternoon, he saw that William Hill had declined the request. The winnings were returned to his account, but the operator suspended it and he was unable to log in.

the operator was entitled to void the transactions and recover the funds due to the glitch

Harvey received an email on March 18 stating that the operator was entitled to void the transaction and recover the funds due to the glitch. William Hill’s parent company Evoke said in a statement that the issue meant the incorrect sums were temporarily added to player accounts.

The father of two is now considering legal action and said that he is stressed about the entire ordeal.
