One of the US’s most iconic slot games turns 30 in May, and if recent events hold, players who favor International Games Technology (IGT)’s Wheel of Fortune brand could be in for an anniversary year of jackpots.
An IGT Wheel of Fortune machine at Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, Connecticut was the most recently reported scene of a $100k+ jackpot, a hot streak that began at the turn of the year with a Mississippi slot that paid a Louisiana player over $1.1m on a $3 bet.
The Connecticut casino took to X on Sunday to congratulate a pair of players who won $113,896.93 on a $1.25 bet on Wheel of Fortune:
While the duo agreed to pose for a photo with the winning check in front of the slot machine, they declined to share their surnames, and the casino didn’t say where they resided.
According to reports, however, the pair “couldn’t believe it when the reels lined up perfectly” to hit the jackpot.
Wheel of Fortune aside, the Mohegan Sun’s 4,300 slot machines and table games have also been giving players plenty of jackpot joy through March, including for one guest who hit two jackpots to win over $200k in one night.
The most eye-watering win, however, came when a New Yorker hit a $1.7m jackpot on an IGT-made Whitney Houston-themed slot in February.
