Police in Australia believe a man used a traffic cone to damage 35 cars in the parking lot of a popular Sydney casino, causing about AU$100,000 (US$70,841) worth of damages. They arrested 42-year-old Nash Ross Blackman on 37 counts of intentional damaging property after a short foot pursuit. Blackman has been refused bail and ordered to undergo a mental health assessment.

A spokesperson for Star Sydney said that it is dealing with the vehicle owners to obtain the necessary reports needed for insurance claims. It noted that this was an “isolated incident.”

spend AU$3,000 (US$2,125) after discovering that his windows and windshield were all smashed

Some of the impacted car owners aired their grievances to local media after the incident. One Canberra resident told 9News he had to spend AU$3,000 (US$2,125) after discovering that his windows and windshield were all smashed. He had to get his car towed and rent another vehicle to return home.

He noted that he was “highly disappointed” after the casino only offered him a complimentary room upgrade for his next stay. Rob, who says he is a regular at the casino, said the property didn’t offer him “a taxi to get to the rental car, no support of a transfer or anywhere, not even a bottle of water.”

While parking charges were part of his room fee, he said that others had to contest these payments when checking out after suffering similar damage to their vehicles. Rob doesn’t plan on returning to Star Casino any time soon after the experience.
