A shortfall in the prize pool for GGPoker’s $10m sixth anniversary-celebrating GGMasters tournament has seen the poker giant take the biggest overlay hit in online poker history.
GGPoker pledged a guaranteed minimum prize pool of $10m, regardless of how many people entered. To reach that target, however, GGPoker needed over 72,000 total entries, but fewer than 60,000 signed on.

This left the prize pool short by about $1.8m, a gap GGPoker had to fund out of its own pocket and, in the process, take the 2024 PokerBaazi GOAT’s place in the record books for online poker’s biggest overlay.
PokerBaazi’s $1.4m record overlay came two years after PokerStars Big Blowout’s overlay of $1.2m.
According to industry media, the largest overlays in retail poker history of $2.5m and $2.4m came at the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, and the 2023 World Poker Tour Championship, respectively.
