It’s that time again. The 2026 edition of the Super Bowl is just around the corner, and it’s set to be a spectacle. The New England Patriots are taking on the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX this Sunday.
Americans are expected to legally wager a record $1.76bn
There are not many events in the annual sporting calendar that attracts more betting. Americans are expected to legally wager a record $1.76bn on Super Bowl 2026 at the Levi Stadium. That’s an increase of 27% year-on-year.
As we look ahead to Sunday, VegasSlotsOnline News has rifled through social media and the news stories of the world to bring you the biggest bets placed on the event. Each of these bettors has put their money where their mouth is, risking it all for a major payday on Sunday.
Check them out below.
A minimum $6.6m payday
One man from Las Vegas is certain to win minimum $6.6m on the Super Bowl no matter which way the action goes.
The unnamed gambler already won almost $10.5m from Circa sports on seven pre-season Seahawks wagers. He will take another $3m home is the team lifts the Vince Lombardi trophy over the weekend.
will win either $8.1m if Seattle win or $6.6m if the Pats win
He has hedged his bets though. The Vegas man backed the Patriots on the money line at Circa and BetMGM for a total of $1.8m to return $3.5m, in addition to a string of other wagers. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, he will win either $8.1m if Seattle win or $6.6m if the Pats win on Sunday.
Mattress Mack is back
Renowned sports bettor Jim ‘Mattress Mack’ McIngvale is not one to pass up an opportunity for a big wager, and the Super Bowl is no different. He backed the Patriots to win this time with a wager of $2m at Caesars Sportsbook.
Of course, in classic Mack style, there is a furniture promotion tied to the gamble. McIngvale said anyone who spends $4,000 in his Gallery Furniture store in Texas will get a refund if the Pats win the big game.
While heart surgery prevented Mack from getting involved in the Super Bowl last year, he has had an up and down relationship with betting on the big game. His biggest loss came in 2022 when he backed the Cincinnati Bengals to beat the Los Angeles Rams with a $9.5m stake.
Portnoy backs beloved Patriots
Controversial business owner and media personality Dave Portnoy is backing his beloved Patriots to take home the win on Sunday.
he will secure $1.8m should it be successful
The Barstool Sports founder bet $50,000 on the Patriots to take the win earlier in the season. He managed to secure pretty impressive +3500 odds for the wager, meaning he will secure $1.8m should it be successful.
Portnoy is no stranger to betting. In April, he described his $2.76m winning bet on the UConn Huskies to beat the Purdue Boilermakers in the NCAA as “the greatest bet of my life.” That came just around five months after Portnoy claimed he quits betting daily when results aren’t going his way.
A charitable bettor
Dan Newlin, an Attorney from Florida, has put a generous spin on his Super Bowl betting endeavours. The gambler has vowed to donated any winnings from his $1m bet placed on the game to pioneering paediatric cancer research at Nemours Children’s Hospital.
The lawyer placed his money on Seattle, describing it as a “tough choice” which team to back. “The game could go either way,” he explained in a press release. “But it’s just exciting to do something super cool that can inspire and shine a light on such an important cause.”
Newlin has contributed to the hospital’s research for a long time, and pledged to continue the support regardless of how the result goes on Sunday. “If we don’t prevail, the kids and cancer research still win,” he stated.
