Hard Rock International has announced its plans to go ahead with an $850m Puerto Rico casino project. This would be the Florida-based company’s first integrated casino destination in the region.
Construction on the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino San Juan would begin in the middle of this year and aims to be finished in 2029. Hard Rock is partnering with Stonecrest Investment Management, Misla Hospitality, and The Interfin Companies on this project.
design for the property will be inspired by Puerto Rico’s musical and cultural heritage
The planned resort will have over 400 hotel rooms, 58 suites, and 186 “branded residences.” It will be the country’s first integrated casino. The design for the property will be derived from Puerto Rico’s musical and cultural heritage, featuring work from some local artists.
Officials say that the project will create jobs, expand hotel capacity close to Old San Juan and cruise ports, as well as strengthen Puerto Rico’s position as a major destination in the Caribbean. The resort will be easily accessible from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport.
Talking about the planned integrated resort, Hard Rock International Chief Operating Officer Jeff Hook said that: “Music is at the heart of both Hard Rock and Puerto Rico, making this a perfect union.”
