Florida attorney Dan Newlin has placed $1m on the Seattle Seahawks to win Super Bowl LX on Sunday against the New England Patriots. The wager with Hard Rock Bet was placed at odds of -230, which means a profit of $434,782 if the Seahawks are victorious.
Newlin said he will donate the winnings to pediatric cancer research at Nemours Children’s Hospital if the bet is successful. He has donated to the hospital’s programs in the past and will keep doing so “until a cure is found.” Newlin has been personally impacted by pediatric cancer, as his daughter’s childhood best friend is dealing with the terrible condition.
Newlin was nominated by President Trump to be the US ambassador to Colombia
In addition to being an attorney, the Chicago native was the deputy sheriff of Orange County in Florida between 1998 and 2018. He started an injury law firm with offices in Illinois and Florida in 2001. More recently, Newlin was nominated by President Trump to be the US ambassador to Colombia.
