Murder most foul

A sensational murder trial began in Winchester Crown Court last week after a man was killed in an acid attack. The attack supposedly came after the victim lost £120,000 ($164,051) of a Dubai druglord’s money on gambling.

Danny Cahalane, 38, died on May 3, 2025, after being drenched with sulfuric acid at his home in Plymouth on February 21.

Ten people are now on trial for murder, manslaughter, attempted kidnapping, and being part of a gang linked to drug trafficking. One of the ten is Cahalane’s ex-wife Paris Wilson, who stated her former husband and father of two: “deserved to be hurt.”

The charges suggest Wilson, who is charged with murder, gave up Cahalane’s location in exchange for money as part of an attempted kidnapping by Dubai-based drug kingpin Ryan Kennedy.

Sending a message

Winchester Crown Court jurors heard Wilson sent Facebook messages to her mother, stating crime boss Kennedy was “losing his mind” over the money her ex-husband owed him.

“He just can’t handle being disrespected.”

Prosecutor Jo Martin KC claimed Cahalane faced “real threats” as he delayed repaying the druglord known as “Frost.” Wilson and her mother were plotting ways to discover where the ex-husband lived “at any given time,” the BBC reported.

The jury also heard that Cahalane was physically threatened months before the acid attack, by men who “tried to rip his door open” on Kennedy’s orders. The crime boss later messaged Cahalane stating: “Close call? Mate I’m telling you they gonna burn gaffes down and your gonna die.”

I’m a millionaire I ain’t stopping until your dead.”

Kennedy sent the deceased further threatening messages, including: “I’m a millionaire I ain’t stopping until your dead.”

Despite Cahalane promising the kingpin his money, Kennedy warned: “I’ll get your location again. And your gonna get shot.” Two men would later break into Cahalane’s house while he was with his daughter, and fatally douse him in acid.

Set up

The Prosecutor told the court Wilson was pivotal in providing information to Kennedy and she gave it “on the understanding Frost would make her wealthy”

“Paris Wilson set Danny up,” Martin said.

“She set him up for Frost. She set him up for two reasons – because she was going to get paid by Frost – a couple of grand; and because she thought Danny deserved to be hurt.”
