Canadians welcomed

Casino kingpin Derek Stevens is attempting to tempt Canadians back to Sin City by accepting CAD at the equivalent value of USD in three of his Downtown Las Vegas resort-casinos.

The offer published Thursday on Circa Resort and Casino’s website stated it was welcoming Canadian residents: “with At Par value across gaming, hotel stays, and select bars at our three Fremont Street properties.”

Canadaphile Stevens took to X with the offer that runs until August 31 stating visitors from the Great White are “always welcome in Las Vegas:

Circa Resort and Casino, the D Las Vegas, and Golden Gate Hotel and Casino will participate in the At Par promotion in a move to do away with financial deterrents for visiting Canadians.

Love letter to Canada

Guests from up North visiting Stevens’ three downtown resort-casinos will also be able to “gamble at par by redeeming up to $500 in slot promotional play.”

The Circa CEO explained the promotion comes from his long attachment to Canada having grown up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, just across the lake from Windsor, Ontario.

remembers seeing and smelling Canada from his bedroom

Stevens said he remembers seeing and smelling Canada from his bedroom and that his parents still live in the same house. The CEO mentioned his dad attending the University of Toronto, family ties, and visiting “great places in Windsor” when he was a 19, 20-year-old.

Stevens said these memories “living on a border town in the Detroit metropolitan area” made him “want to go at par.”

“So if you book on our website, you book a hotel room, Canadian dollars go off as American dollars,” he said.

Paper and plastic

According to the Circa website, the $500 gambling offer can only be redeemed once at one of Stevens’ properties, while the hotel offers are only available via direct bookings made on the three Fremont Street resort-casinos’ websites.

The Circa CEO juiced up his welcome offer by telling Canadians: “I’m going to have a bar at each one of my hotels, where everything goes off at par.”

Stevens concluded whether it’s “paper money or using your credit card, you get the appropriate discount based upon the exchange rate.”
