Visitor numbers continue to be a major concern for Las Vegas after November’s monthly visitor figures at Harry Reid International Airport from abroad were the worst of 2025. The number of people coming into the region from overseas fell 21.2% year-on-year and domestic passengers were down 8.8%. This marks the tenth straight month of visitor decline in Nevada, as people look for more affordable alternatives.
frosty relations between the US and Canada
The number of visitors from Canada continues to fall off a cliff, dropping almost 30% in November year-on-year. A big reason for the decline is frosty relations between the US and Canada following President Trump’s imposition of tariffs on goods and his comments about annexing the country.
Harry Reid International was also one of 40 airports impacted by the recent government shutdown, which concluded on November 12, leading to significant flight delays and cancellations.
Casinos are hoping for a better 2026. Many properties have started slashing prices and offering package deals to attract more people. There was even a Las Vegas Strip sale in September, which offered some massive deals. Gaming revenue remains solid, but hotel occupancy is down.
