Prediction market platform Polymarket bought boxer Anthony Joshua a diamond necklace, reportedly worth $400,000, ahead of his fight on Friday in Miami against Jake Paul. The 36-year-old posted a video on X showing him unboxing the jewelry:

Joshua can be seen laughing with glee, remarking on the shininess of the chain, which features a Polymarket logo as its main design element. He said that the level of bling is appropriate for being in the US.

Joshua is expected to wear it during his walkout

Some people on social media questioned why the Polymarket team approved spending $400,000 on the necklace. Others said that it was a smart move, as Joshua is expected to wear it during his walkout on Friday night when more than 50 million people are expected to tune in on Netflix. Recent comments from Paul suggest that the two fighters will split the $267m purse.

Joshua had already posted a screenshot from the Polymarket platform showing the current pricing of the fight’s markets:

The English star fighter has never officially announced a partnership with Polymarket. However, his Friday opponent is an early-stage investor. The venture capital firm that Jake Paul co-founded took part in a Series A funding round for the platform in 2021.
