Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman jokingly referred to prediction markets while speaking at an event in the White House. He mentioned that someone told him about the 17x odds on offer if he wore a black suit to the black-tie dinner. Other unusual markets that people were betting on regarding the visit included whether Trump and Prince bin Salman would hug, the length of their handshake, and which phrases Trump would mention.

South Park also aired an episode in September in which kids at the elementary school became obsessed with prediction markets.
