An influencer couple is in hot water after allegedly laundering $4m they earned through promoting illegal online gambling. Investigators believe that Aline Cavanellas and Pedro Vitro bought 15 properties using the funds. Police raided their residence in Brazil and seized seven vehicles, documents, and stolen mobile phones.

The influencers, who have more than 3.6 million followers combined, would post videos playing games that they claimed offered easy gains. They posed with fake prizes to try to encourage followers to place bets. The operator of the games allegedly rigged the outcomes to ensure that players would lose.

The lawyer for Cavanellas and Vitro claims that they are innocent and that they don’t operate any illegal gambling platforms.
