GGPoker has permanently banned poker player RealOA and confiscated the $250,253 in his account after he actively sought real-time strategic advice from several people during the final table of the GGMillion$ tournament on October 14. One of the individuals who proceeded to give some tips was Ren “Tony” Lin, who is now indefinitely suspended from GGPoker, World Series of Poker, and partner platforms.
udgment that RealOA was looking to gain an unfair advantage and breached the rules
The online poker site operator released a statement on Tuesday confirming its judgment that RealOA was looking to gain an unfair advantage and breached the rules by doing so. Lin received a lesser penalty after admitting to the wrongdoing. The poker pro published an apology on social media regarding the incident:
He clarified that he didn’t receive any “form of profit” for giving the advice and that his actions were “purely an instinctive reaction.” Lin was playing in the WSOP Super Circuit Cyprus Main Event at the time. After the allegations came to light, he was disqualified on the second day of the tournament.
GGPoker and WSOP are both owned by the same company, NSUS, which is cracking down on online poker violators who enter live tournaments.
